About Silton, Saskatchewan
Established 1914
Our friendly little village has a population of just over 70. We serve a large area along the north side of long lake. Our community is the gateway to Last Mountain Lake along Highway 322.
Our community boasts a great community hall, an active recreation board, and a well equipped volunteer fire department.
We are fortunate to be home to a number of businesses including the Silton General Store, D’s Place Restaurant, Fay’s Restaurant, the Silton Carwash and more!

Fun Facts about Silton!
Charles Benjafield was one of the earliest pioneers in the Long Lake District. He Homesteaded in 1883 and started the Silton Post Office on 1888.
The Port of Silton was one stop for the steamers that transported settlers and supplies up Last Mountain Lake at $4.50 per round.
The Silton Elephant was created by local artist, Russell Yuristy in 1972 and was the main playground attraction until the early 2000’s.
The United Church was built in 1928 and remains in use today.
In 1935, the Silton community built a curling rink out of marsh grass baled hay and poplar poles. It burnt in 1937.
Silton is the birthplace of Harold “Mush” Marsh. He made hockey history when he scored the first goal in the old Maple Leaf Gardens in 1931. He kept the puck and dropped it at the final game at the Gardens in 1999.
Warren Fisher of SIlton still holds the record for the most shutouts in one season, five (5) , for the Regina Pats.
